Could you try clearing your cache and retrying?
In Internet Explorer 7, go to Tools –> Delete Browsing History –> Temporary Internet Files
In FireFox, go to Tools –> Clear Private Date –> ensure Cache is checked –> Clear Private Data NowIf you are still having problems after that, let me know.

KeymasterFebruary 13, 2009 at 3:41 amPost count: 381in reply to: [FEATURE REQUEST] Print Calendar #3719Well – if people have a lot of items in a day, they need more vertical size. Collapsing the category sidebar will give more horizontal, but won’t increase the amount of items they can see.
I’ll look into this possibility when I work on expanding the category sidebar to show specifics for each account.Eric Poulin
KeymasterFebruary 10, 2009 at 7:21 pmPost count: 381in reply to: [FEATURE REQUEST] Print Calendar #3717I can probably do an initial quick job to get it better and legible – then work out a fancy output when I have more time.
Thanks for the suggestions. This is in line with what I’ve been thinking also.Eric Poulin
KeymasterFebruary 9, 2009 at 4:18 amPost count: 381in reply to: Setup Categories Before Importing #3725Thanks for your feedback. This is very helpful for our development plans.
1) Currently in CalendarBudget, you can create new categories on the fly during bank import. The category drop down has some default categories, but you can just type in the category field to create a new category. Apparently, that was not very clear.. we’ll work on making that more obvious. We plan to re-do the first time setup soon.
2) The import from OFX does create an entry for starting balance, but its not visible until you click finish – then its on the calendar. Note to self: need to put that starting balance entry on the import screen.
3) We are very close to being able to use the first time setup on any account created, not just as start CalendarBudget. Also, we are close to being able to import from OFX as part of regular updating – not just starting your account.
4) From the perspective of the account, that Macy’s return is still income… You’ll categories it in an expense category, but that transaction is still an income to the account. I think the concept of negative expenses, while I get it, can be confusing to people.
Feel free to comment further if you disagree with anything, or have more ideas.
Thanks!

KeymasterFebruary 9, 2009 at 12:27 amPost count: 381in reply to: [FEATURE REQUEST] Print Calendar #3715Would you want the daily entries all highlighted or just what you currently have highlighted by category?
Do you want the calendar to be equally distributed (pretty) or do you care if the Sunday column is narrower than the rest if there if no activity on Sunday?
Since a budget typically changes frequently, what is the purpose of printing? Do you really want to see the same regular calendar view, or are you looking to refer to something specific that may be better displayed in a different kind of report?CalendarBudget is designed so we can have a slightly different look when printing, although this has not been implemented yet. I’m interested to know the need so we get the final output right.

KeymasterFebruary 7, 2009 at 10:02 pmPost count: 381in reply to: Future Feature List #3562I’ll have to take a closer look at Google Gears. However, I know Dojo also supports offline and CalendarBudget already heavily uses Dojo. Rather than introduce a new javascript library, I’ll first check out Dojo to keep CalendarBudget as lightweight as possible.
I really like the session refresher idea of just re-entering a password. I actually came up with a design for that a long time ago, but it always got pushed to the bottom of the priority list. I think it won’t take more than a few hours to do that, so I’ll find my design and re-prioritize that. When is does happen, its annoying, especially if you lose a complicated entry.
Keep the ideas coming!

KeymasterFebruary 4, 2009 at 5:52 pmPost count: 381in reply to: [FEATURE REQUEST] Country Currency #3713Actually, this is one area I had not thought about.
CalendarBudget currently has only 1 currency – depending on your browser local. If you are in a European locale, CalendarBudget shows the Euro symbol, If you are in UK, it shows pound symbol. Otherwise, it shows in the regular dollar symbol, but in the end, its just showing a symbol, there is no conversion happening.I think the demand for this would be pretty low, but it may be useful for some. This one will go one the long-term wish list I think once higher priority things are taken care of. Once I get a few more wishlist features taken down, I’ll update the feature poll and let the voting direct development.

KeymasterFebruary 3, 2009 at 6:17 pmPost count: 381in reply to: Mouse Wheel #3590The “centering” idea is good. I may adopt that in all cases, since it gives better context and never causes a problem.
I think I prefer the idea of scrolling forward 1 month at a time rather than by weeks.
I’ve been planning to do data pre-fetch for previous and next month anyway, which will make scrolling forward or back 1 month fast.
I’m excited to get onto some of these features…. This All Accounts tab is taking a while since it affects many other features. Hoping to have it out to you guys by end of this week.Eric Poulin
KeymasterFebruary 3, 2009 at 3:46 amPost count: 381I tend to keep things too simple in this area, because I never carry a balance on my Visa – so I never pay interest :)

KeymasterFebruary 2, 2009 at 8:03 pmPost count: 381I handle this kind of debt (Visa, loans, etc) as accounts also. In reality, they are account at my bank – so it makes sense.
Currently I manually enter any interest that accrues.
I could enable interest on all accounts… since even a plain savings account (and some chequing accounts) gets a small amount of interest.
Perhaps I could make interest an account option?Eric Poulin

Interesting idea. I’ll give that some more thought. The orphaned entries are not a huge problem, but one of those “perfecting” things that I’d like to address eventually to get CalendarBudget just right :)
We are planning to have an alert area.
It would be a tab along with the Categories. If anything shows up there, I’ll make the tab some color indicating there something there.
It will contain things like you are suggesting.[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]

KeymasterFebruary 1, 2009 at 4:56 pmPost count: 381in reply to: [FEATURE Request] Bill payments #3701Lucas, before I answer – thanks for all of your suggestions :) You input helps me “get it right” for the masses, as I assume your thoughts are not singular.
I’m still not sure theres much of a distinction between a bill and regular repeating entry.
Let me address your bullets individually:- Indicate projected information (this is already what you are doing for repeating entries)
- Bill are generally paid within a certain grace period. (I thought about this a while ago – what if people entered when bill were due and we remind them to pay them right at the end of the due date period – then they collect more interest on that money. After doing the math, you end up saving only pennies – and the risk of waiting until the end of the period is not worth the risk. Most people pay their bills when they can — maybe they have to wait for a paycheck to come in during that grace period, but bills generally do occur on a patterned process that can be covered by the repeat entry parameters. For planning you put the bill on the date you typically received it, then as the time comes you move it a few days as needed to make sure you hav ethe cash in the bank to pay it.)
- Receiving/Payment of bill (I think a flag indicating paid would handle this)
- Advanced (rolling over unpaid amount – not sure CB should handle this with a mechanism. There are penalties specific to the bill, interest rates specific to the bill, carry over amounts specific to the bill. I think the right move would be to have the user make the adjustment)
Maybe your thinking of something different when you say “bills”. In my mind rent, car loan, RRSP, etc are bills along with other things you may owe. So far, I think bills and standard repeat entries are functionally one in the same (with the addition of a paid flag). If you disagree, please explain in more detail — I’m happy to hear your thoughts on this.

KeymasterFebruary 1, 2009 at 3:37 pmPost count: 381in reply to: Why the end date? #3697Perhaps a default of 2 years may be more appropriate. You can always change the end date to whatever.
Sure you cannot accurately plan into the future, but you can plan. Thats part of the power of CalendarBudget — the ability to see what you future finances will look like given current and expected trends.
I’ll change the default to 2 years… -
