Go to CalendarBudget and then use the toolbar to select Setup -> Account Setup. There’s a new button beside each account called iCal Feed. Click this button to get your private iCal feed URL. You can use this address to add a subscribed calendar on your iPhone/Android device. For now, this pulls all of your account data as All Day events, including your account balance. Its really handy while on the go to see your balances – no new application required – just use your built in calendar app.
We have plans to make the calendar editable – so you can modify entries and add new entries. We’re not there quite yet, but its in the works.

KeymasterOctober 23, 2010 at 12:46 pmPost count: 381in reply to: multiple budgets #3897Yes, several people are in your situation. We designed CalendarBudget so the categories span accounts since most people are using CalendarBudget for their personal finances and thus it makes more sense this way. However, when you have an account that should have distinct categories, we recommend you create distinct categories for this separate account. Here, how I would do it:
Preface all my categories with something like “Personal-” or shorter “P-” giving:
P-Auto
P-House
P-Entertainment
etc..
Then for my business categories, preface with “Business-” or shorter “B-” giving:
B-Auto
B-House
B-Meals
etc..
Then when categorizing individual transactions, make sure to use only business categories in your business account, and visa-versa for personal items.Eric Poulin

Login to the calendar and to go Setup -> Account Setup, then click the iCal feed button to get your private link for that account. There are instructions for how to import the feed into Google calendar and iPhone calendar. Other systems will be similar.
Thanks for this great suggestion folks – it works great!Eric Poulin
KeymasterSeptember 30, 2010 at 4:36 amPost count: 381in reply to: view my budget on google calendar #3807Decided to do this after a few more people suggested it through email.
Going to make the account balance show as an all-day event.
Individual transactions will show up as calendar entries starting at 12:00 midnight and occuring every 30 minutes until you run out of entries for that day.
This seems to be the best way to make it work. I’ll release it shortly and if there are any thoughts on improvement, adjustments should be fairly easy.Eric Poulin

KeymasterSeptember 15, 2010 at 5:02 amPost count: 381in reply to: Marking actual vs planned (consolidation) #3581I’ve just added the “Mark as complete” feature for entries. You can now right click on entries to mark them as paid/complete. Later, I’ll add the ability to automatically have the reconciling assistant to this for you.

At a later date, I’ll work on integrating this “Mark as complete” feature with the Reconciling Assistant – so when you import your bank file you can choose to have entries automatically marked as complete.

KeymasterSeptember 14, 2010 at 3:21 pmPost count: 381in reply to: Starting Balance… How to? #3895If you used the bank import during the account setup, the starting balance should have been automatically created for you. If you did a manual setup, there was a box at the top of the setup wizard for the starting balance.
In either case, if you missed that and already have entries in your calendar – don’t start over just for that. The easiest thing to do is make a correction entry on today’s date (but this should be just a 1 time entry – you should not make regular corrections). Take the balance that CalendarBudget says today has and subtract it from your actual account balance today, then create an entry for that amount. That will make today’s balance correct.
Normally we do this same thing, but at the beginning of your data, but that may not be possible now.If you haven’t made many entries since you started – you can always reset your account (Setup -> Account Setup -> Reset) and then use the Account Setup wizard to import your account details and it will automatically find your correct starting balance.
If you’re still stuck – let me know.

KeymasterSeptember 6, 2010 at 8:13 pmPost count: 381in reply to: Help – Program Speed #3892Wow. 5 minutes feels like an eternity on the web :) I feel your pain.
The speed of the app depends on several factors, most important being your computer speed and browser.
You mentioned you’re using a Mac. We test on a Macbook Pro (OS 10.5.8, 2Gz Processor, 2GB RAM) here and CalendarBudget runs very fast (takes just seconds to do anything).
Are you using the latest version of Safari (5.0) or Firefox (3.6)? If not, upgrade to the latest version which should improve the speed a lot. In fact, the fastest browser we’ve tested is Google Chrome, which now has a Mac version. Give it a try at http://www.google.com/chrome?platform=mac.
CalendarBudget flies on Chrome!!Eric Poulin

KeymasterSeptember 4, 2010 at 8:49 pmPost count: 381Jenell’s issue turned out to be a problem with the way her bank formatted the OFX file. I’ve altered CalendarBudget to compensate for the problem — this fix should be available on the server in a few days after testing. However, not all problems are the same. I recommend sending me your file to see if you’re experiencing a different issue.
You can send it me at epoulin@calendarbudget.com

KeymasterAugust 31, 2010 at 10:24 pmPost count: 381Jenell,
Thanks for bringing this up. Although OFX is a standard format, our experience is that different banks format the OFX file slightly differently from each other.
If you can send me your OFX file, I’ll give it a try on our test system and make any adjustments needed to have your file be accepted properly. -
